Beginning in January, book club for 6th-9th graders will meet once a month on a Thursday (date to be announced) and book club for 10th-12th graders will meet once a month on a different Thursday (date to be announced).

Bishop Dunne holds its annual Open House Tuesday, November 10, 2009, and invites potential students and parents to visit and see what we have to offer. Welcome!

The weather is getting cooler and the leaves are changing color. Other changes are in the air as well. If you haven’t been in the library recently, come by. If you’ve read something you really enjoyed, let us know about it. If you have requests for books you’d like to see in your library, write them down. We are creating a wish list for new items.

We are also changing the look of the library. Students and faculty members have made suggestions for a library makeover. You will start to see these changes over the next several weeks. The courtyard door will be open, and students are invited to take advantage of good weather by reading in the courtyard.

The library is undergoing some changes. Ms. Johnson has left; Melanie Gibson is the new librarian. I will be in the library Mondays and Tuesdays all day. The rest of the week several courageous and committed staff members will be taking care of things.

The Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for August 31-September 4, 2009, in the library. It will open at 8:00 a.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. every day. Come by and check out the selection. For more information, go to our school’s personal web page http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/bishopdunne.

The library will officially open for checking out materials soon after the Book Fair is over. You will be able to check books out every day. I welcome comments and suggestions as I find my way in a new place. I look forward to seeing you in the library!
